Teen spirit takes centre stage, with celebration for all in Carndonagh

Award-winning Donegal social enterprise Spraoi agus Spórt will join youth clubs and services across the country to celebrate Oíche na hÓige/Youth Night 2026.

Carndonagh’s Spraoi Teen Social, a dedicated weekly drop-in space for local teenagers, will open its doors for an evening of activities on Friday 13 November from 6-8pm.

Oíche na hÓige [Youth Night] is a national celebration of youth work taking place across Ireland. Members of the public are invited to join Spraoi Teen Social members for creative activities and refreshments, including mug and tote bag printing.

Spraoi Teen Social was created to address a growing demand for safe, welcoming, and relaxed environments where young people can take a break from screen time and school pressures.

Since launching earlier this year, the initiative has become a thriving social space for teenagers aged 13 to 16 to unwind, play games, and build friendships.

Teenagers involved have enjoyed a diverse range of exciting experiences, including go-karting, horse riding, and beauty camps. The programme runs twice a week on Wednesday and Friday evenings, offering a consistent and positive outlet for youth in the area.

“We wanted to build a space where teens could just be themselves without any pressure,” said Chelsea Doherty, Youth Camp Co-Ordinator at Spraoi agus Spórt.

“Seeing how well the young people have connected and looking at the steady attendance since the club started in the summer has been fantastic. Whether someone comes with friends or shows up on their own, there’s always a warm welcome and something fun to do.”

“We’re delighted to open the doors for an evening of snacks, games, and digital fabrication using our Digital Creative Lab.”

Everyone is welcome to attend the event on Friday, 13 November, from 6pm to 8pm at Unit 10, SuperValu Shopping Centre, Carndonagh. Book at spraoiagussport.ie.
