The community is organising a fundraiser to support the Donegal teen

The story of Donegal teenager Rocco McGinley's battle against a rare and aggressive brain tumour has touched the hearts of people across the county and beyond.

Fundraising events have been taking place to support 15-year-old Rocco as he undergoes treatment in Texas that is not available in Ireland. To date, around €209,800 of a target of €280,000 has been raised.

This weekend, the people of Carrick are coming together to support Rocco with a 5K, which also ties in to a wider 100K challenge.

The walk begins at the Meenaneary Community Centre at 1pm this Sunday, February 27. It is open to everyone and tea and coffee will be served afterwards.
