'You never know who might be watching' - Donegal gardaí issue stark warning
With scenic spots and walking trails attracting increased footfall, Gardaí are urging drivers to be mindful of where and how they park
As more people head out to enjoy the great outdoors during the summer months, An Garda Siochana in Donegal are reminding the public to take extra precautions when it comes to car security.
With scenic spots and walking trails attracting increased footfall, Gardaí are urging drivers to be mindful of where and how they park.
“Please try to park in a secure location if possible and always ensure that your vehicle is locked,” a spokesperson said.
"People are also being advised not to leave valuables in their cars - even if they think they are hidden from view. “Do not make the mistake of trying to conceal your belongings after parking up. You never know who might be watching. The best advice is to leave all non-essential valuables at home, including electronics, jewellery, and bags.
"Anyone who notices suspicious activity near car parks, trailheads, or popular outdoor areas is encouraged to report it to Gardaí without delay. Staying alert and taking simple precautions can help ensure everyone enjoys a safe and peaceful time outdoors this summer."
