Bornacoola Tráth na gCeist team from Leitrim were crowned All Ireland Champions at the Scór Sinsear All Ireland Finals in Castlebar last weekend. The team was made up of Gearard Reilly, Noel Carr and father and son duo Aidan and Paul Dockery. The Bornacoola lads were in the lead after the first ten rounds of the quiz earning themselves one of three places in the second part of the quiz on stage. They went into the stage rounds leading on 46 points, followed by Down on 41 and Offaly on 39. The live stage round consisted of four individual rounds and the Bornacoola lads performed consistently finishing on a grand total of 74 points. Their dedication and hard work was deservedly rewarded as the Leitrim team were crowned All Ireland Champions. Comhghairdeas to Paul, Aidan, Noel and Gearard.
Also representing Leitrim and Connacht, was the Naomh Muire Rince Foirne team who opened the show as the first act to perform on stage and set the pace for rest of the evening. The eight young ladies delivered a beautifully stylish performance on stage.
Whilst they narrowly missed out on the All Ireland title and came away empty handed on this occasion, we have no doubt they will be back to contest the title again in the future.
Congratulations to our Connacht counterparts Corofin, Galway who won an All Ireland title in set dancing. We now come to the end of another great Scór season. Thanks to all the clubs who took part and helped with the running of Scór in any way over the past few months.
