Cllr James Gilmartin proposed a motion requesting that Manorhamilton MD install clear signage and road markings to prevent illegal parking on Manorhamilton's Main Street.

Concerns were raised at a meeting of Manorhamilton Municipal District about some Manorhamilton businesses struggling to access the rear of their premises and parking spaces due to blocked entrances caused by other drivers.

Cllr James Gilmartin proposed a motion requesting that Manorhamilton MD install clear signage and road markings to prevent illegal parking on the Main Street.

He noted that although a yellow box is in place on Main Street to deter people from parking, some drivers continue to ignore it.

He suggested adding a “No Parking” sign to reinforce the restriction.

Cllr Felim Gurn seconded the motion, commenting that the issue has become a persistent problem for businesses.

A response from the Roads department stated that signage and road markings for parking on Main Street would be reviewed for reinstatement or possible upgrades.
