Outline planning permission has been granted for a 17-home mixed housing development in Dromod, with conditions restricting initial sales to owner-occupiers and housing bodies.

Outline planning permission has been granted for a new housing development in South Leitrim comprising 17 houses.

An application for outline planning permission for a mixed housing development at Drumod More, Dromod, was submitted on January 20 seeking approval for the construction of 17 new two-storey dwelling houses.

The proposed development comprises three semi-detached blocks of three-bedroom units, two semi-detached blocks of four-bedroom units, one terraced block containing two three-bedroom units and one two-bedroom unit, and one terraced block containing two three-bedroom units and two two-bedroom units.

The application also sought permission for access onto the public road, revised access to the existing dwelling house, connections to services, and all associated site development works.

Outline planning permission was granted for the development on July 1, subject to 10 conditions.

These include a requirement that the developer legally commits that the homes will initially be occupied by people who will live in them, or by social and affordable housing providers, rather than being purchased first by corporate investors.

Other conditions require that the construction of the development be managed in accordance with a Construction Environmental Management Plan.

Unlike standard planning applications, the proposal sought outline planning permission, which is a two-stage process that establishes whether the local authority agrees in principle to the proposed development before a subsequent application for full planning permission is submitted.
