Sarah Devlin, who runs the remote South Georgia Post Office in the South Atlantic, is back from the frozen island to play cello at the Joe Mooney Summer School.

Sarah Devlin, originally from Belfast and formerly from Kinlough, runs the remote Post Office on South Georgia Island in the harsh, frozen environment of the South Atlantic Ocean. Located 860 miles (1,384km) from the Falkland Islands, the island has a population of between 10 and 40 people, depending on the time of year but welcomes tourist cruise ships during the summer season.

Sarah has a keen interest in legendary Kerry Antarctic explorer Tom Crean. A friend sent her the application form for the South Georgia Post Office job as a joke. She applied – and got it.

Home on a visit, Sarah is enjoying the warm sunshine and playing the cello at the Joe Mooney Summer School.
