Why have you decided to run in the Local Elections?
We need someone to represent small businesses. I believe I am the only self-employed candidate that has a rate paying premises in my area. I am also a consistent volunteer with many different committees and groups helping to improve the area. I am community driven not politically motivated.
Why should people vote for you?
Many people have suggested over the years that I should join the local County Council. Here are some of the comments from people who have said they will give me their Number 1 Vote:
“Even when you aren’t running for election you are always doing things and helping the community,”
“Sharon is not someone who gets involved to get recognition, she does it because she is genuine, caring, selfless and extremely practical, she is a giver,”
“Sharon is a doer,”
“If I was stuck in the North Pole and had one phone call it would be to Sharon, she would literally go to the ends of the earth to help”
“Always willing to help & she makes things happen,”
“Sharon is always smiling and very approachable nothing is a problem”
“Sharon is honest and up front.”
What do you think is lacking in your area and what will you be campaigning for?
Transparency in council decisions that affect everyone who lives and works in the area. Value for money for rate-paying businesses. Improve accessibility on Leitrim County Council website.
Push for the services that are supposed to be in the primary health centre like women’s health and children’s mental health service. Also continue to support activities and facilities for younger adults.
