Drumshanbo Tidy Towns and Leitrim County Council has listed Slì na Crannóige Way

As part of National Heritage week and in conjunction with Drumshanbo Tidy Towns, Leitrim County Council has listed Slì na Crannóige Way of the Crannog, re-naming the trail established by Waterways Ireland from Blackrock lock to Marina at Lough Allen.

There is historical evidence of  Crannogs, Lake Dwellings on Lough Allen. The provision of colourful charts helps walkers, children identify the variety of wildlife flora and fauna along the route.

This is an extension of the popular Acres Lake Blueway along the Canal. The opening is at 11am on Saturday August 17th.

All walkers, cyclists, parents with buggies, dog walkers welcome. Local volunteers who regularly walk the route have assisted in painting benches, Shepherds hut and  designing signage.

An application to Waterways Ireland Community Heritage and Bio Diversity grant scheme resulted in Tidy Towns receiving a small grant for this project. Refreshments will be provided at Copper Apple, dockside coffee shop.
