Leitrim's 2022 U20 football finals could yet take place at the end of January if the weather situation does not improve this  week after the County Board announced  contingency plans for this weekend.

The U20 Championship Finals were due to be held last Sunday but all fell victim to the cold snap that hit the country. Leitrim GAA have refixed the games with the headline Division 1 clash of St Mary's Kiltoghert and Mac Diarmada Gaels down for an under lights encounter in Pairc Cil Tiobraid  this Friday, December  at 7.30pm.

The Division 2 & 3 Finals are both fixed for 1 pm on Sunday  but with Met Eireann extending its Status Yellow low temperature/ ice alert until Friday amid warnings that the wintry weather could extend well into next week, there is a strong possibility that the ground will not have thawed enough to allow the games to proceed.

Leitrim's Competition Controls Committee have ruled that should Friday's Division 1 Final not proceed, it will be fixed for next Sunday at 1 pm. In the event of any of the three games falling victim to the weather, the games will be refixed for Sunday, January 22, 2023.

That would mean a clash with Leitrim Ladies' opening game in the 2023 Lidl NFL Division 4 campaign, Jonny Garrity's side starting their promotion bid by hosting Derry at a Leitrim venue.
