Ballinamore lit up their 30ft Christmas tree last night, Thursday November 24.

29-year-old John Creamer won the town a wonderful Christmas present from 7UP and 2FM to win a Christmas tree and lighting party. While he didn’t expect to win; the born and bred Ballinamore man thought it was worth a go.

The 30ft tree was lit with a 7UP DJ and party on Main Street.

The rest of Ballinamore's Christmas Lights will be switched on December 10 which Santa Claus is attending.

John also won a €250 one for all voucher for entering the competition. John said the reaction from locals has been great and he hopes “the big Christmas tree will bring joy."
