A couple from Carlow will walk a part of the Camino over four days to fundraise for the Cliona's Foundation.
Eric Delaney and his wife Maurita are part of a group of 19 people who will walk from the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela to Finisterre, also known as “the end of the world.”
The Camino de Finisterre stretches over 100km, with the group hoping to complete the trek over four days.
“We will be walking in solidarity with the approximately 4,000 families caring for seriously sick children all over Ireland,” Eric wrote in a post on LinkedIn.
“This trip will raise much needed funds and awareness for these families and their financial struggle to cover the non-medical cost of their child’s illness,” he continued.
The group are walking for ‘Cliona’s Foundation,’ which provides financial assistance to families of seriously sick children for things such as accommodation, food, travel, childcare, equipment, and much more.
Eric and the rest of the group will leave for their journey on October 2nd, returning on October 7th.
The group has collectively raised over €3,ooo on its eventmaster.ie page.
“If you ever had any ambition to walk the Camino, there isn’t a better way to do it than to walk a few days of it with Cliona’s Foundation,” Eric said.
