'Important milestone': U2 providing funding to Carlow music group

The Kilkenny Carlow Education and Training Board has welcomed the news that Music Generation Ireland will receive €20 million in funding
A music group that provides music education to children and young adults will receive part of €5 million in funding from U2.
It was announced at the recent The Ireland Funds 50th Anniversary Gala that the band would provide the funding to Music Generation Ireland groups across the country.
A total of €20 million in funding will be provided, as The Ireland Funds has also pledged €5 million, alongside a further €10 million in Government supports.
Music Generation Ireland provides music education to those aged 13 and above.
“This renewed Government–philanthropic partnership marks an important milestone, strengthening Music Generation's commitment to ensuring that more children and young people can access high-quality music education,” the post on LinkedIn states.
“A particular focus of this new phase is supporting young people aged 13 and over who face greater barriers to participation, using music to promote inclusion, connection, and positive mental health and wellbeing,” it added.
The KCETB, Music Generation Carlow, and Music Generation Kilkenny say they are proud to be part of the national initiative.
“We will continue to create meaningful musical opportunities that inspire creativity, build confidence, and make a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people across Carlow,” it states.
