Carlow County Council is inviting residents, businesses, community groups, and “anyone with a connection” to College Street to share their ideas for the mural.

It’s being described as an “exciting new public artwork” and aims to celebrate the areas heritage, identity, and community.

Carlow County Council shared the news in a post on Facebook.

The seminar to share ideas will take place tomorrow at 12:30pm until 2pm in Carlow Town Library.

“Share your ideas and help create a mural that reflects the stories and spirit of Carlow,” the post on Facebook says.

To attend, you must register for free online on the Local Enterprise Office website.

Those taking part will be helping to “shape the future” of the street.

The existing mural, located opposite the Cathedral's main entrance and forecourt, will be decommissioned and replaced with a new community-led artwork that celebrates Carlow's heritage, identity and aspirations while reflecting the unique significance of this important civic space ensuring that the final artwork is informed by local stories, experiences and perspectives.

"This mural presents an exciting opportunity to create a lasting piece of public art that truly belongs to the people of Carlow. We want to hear from those who live, work and spend time in the town about the stories, memories and values that define this community, Ken Murnane, Mayor of Carlow County Council, said.
