Kilkenny County Council recently met with Waterford City and County Council to discuss taking the road in charge

Kilkenny County Council is currently still in the process of taking in charge the access road to Ferrybank GAA Club, Ferrybank Football Club, the Ferrybank Graveyard and Abbeylands Estate.

Concerns had been raised in recent times about safety issues on the road, the responsibility for which had been split between local authorities in Kilkenny and Waterford.

Area engineer John Tennyson said that Kilkenny County Council recently met with Waterford City and County Council to discuss taking the road in charge, but warned that ‘a good bit of work’ was still required.

“It will be the new year anyway,” he noted, adding that no safety measures can be fully implemented until the road is formally taken in charge.
