Richie Mulrooney has retired from his Principal role in Clara National School after almost three decades

After 29 years of dedication to Clara National School, Principal Richie Mulrooney called time on his illustrious time at the County Kilkenny primary school last week.

Teachers and pupils came together to express their appreciation for outgoing principal Mr Mulrooney, who was presented with a number of gifts and tributes on behalf of the entire school community.

“Without a doubt what I’m most proud of are the children that have come to the school for the past 29 years,” Mr Mulrooney said.

“The way they have presented themselves was very reflective of their parents from the day they started here and as you meet them as they go through secondary school and as they become adults, they have turned out to be the fine you men and women we expected them to be. That’s the great thing of all,” he added.

“It’s been a wonderful 29 years to serve the school,” the outgoing principal concluded.

“A special day filled with memories, gratitude and well wishes for the future,” a school spokesperson said.

“Wishing Richie all the very best in his retirement,” they added.
