ALERT: Motorists 'should avoid' area of Kilkenny City for the next few weeks

An alternative diversion route from the Threecastles Junction (LP1825) with the Freshford Road to Castlecomer Road (N77) shall be operational and sign-posted
Major roadworks have commenced from today (Monday, May 12) in Kilkenny City that will inevitably lead to delays for local motorists, Kilkenny County Council have advised.
The local authority wish to communicate that a contractor, as part of the new CBS Secondary School scheme, will have a 'stop and go' traffic management operation in place in the vicinity of the newly constructed Freshford Road Roundabout (R693) from this Monday (May 12) until June 6, 2025 - on a 24 hour basis.
The measures will include temporary traffic lights at night to facilitate the re-surfacing and kerbing of the newly constructed roundabout.

An alternative diversion route from the Threecastles Junction (LP1825) with the Freshford Road to Castlecomer Road (N77) shall be operational and sign-posted.
Delays can be expected with queues likely. If possible, motorists should avoid the area.
Kilkenny County Council wishes to thank you for your co-operation and patience during these works.
