Yulefest Kilkenny is celebrating the start of the Christmas holidays in style, with an evening market, live music, family entertainment and fireworks!

In a new location this year, the fireworks will take off from the Abbey Quarter side of the River Nore.

The public can view the fireworks from around Kilkenny City but the best viewing points are expected to be along John’s Quay and Michael Street.

It is therefore proposed to close John's Quay and Michael Street to vehicular traffic between 7.30pm and 9pm today (Friday).

These roads closures will be manned by a combination of gardaí and volunteer stewards.

Kilkenny County Council apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused and appreciate your patience and understanding.

Make your way to city locations near the river to view the fireworks which will be let off at 8.15pm a fabulously festive way to celebrate Christmas in Kilkenny!
