Aontú announce their candidate for Carlow-Kilkenny

"Carlow and Kilkenny deserve a fresh approach to leadership, one that values open dialogue and genuine representation"
A 36-year-old horticultural student and organic food producer has been selected by Aontú to contest the upcoming General Election in the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency.
Gary O’Neill from Ferrybank says he is honoured to stand for Aontú, a party he describes as the ‘only real opposition in the country’.
“I’m a proud Ferrybank native with an educational background in criminology,” he said.
“Through my volunteer work with a youth justice program, I’ve supported young people in our community, working to reduce anti-social behaviour and create safter communities.
“My career has reinforced my dedication to fairness, integrity, and protecting those who might otherwise be overlooked.
“When the opportunity to stand as a candidate for the General Election arose, I knew this was where I wanted to focus my energy.
“I thought of the communities that shaped me: Ferrybank, where I grew up; Kilmacow, where I now live; Mooncoin, where my father was raised; and the wider communities across Kilkenny and Carlow.”
O’Neill says Aontú ‘is the party of consistency and is constantly holding the government accountable for the issues that impact people’.
“Carlow and Kilkenny deserve a fresh approach to leadership, one that values open dialogue and genuine representation,” he added.
“Together with Aontú, I believe that everyone deserves to be heard.
“I am committed to creating opportunities for communities to freely share their concerns and ideas through open, respectful conversations that lead to real solutions.
“I pledge to prioritise the needs of both counties equally and bring genuine, balanced representation to every community.”
