First time General Election candidate with the Irish Freedom Party, Orla Donohoe has vowed to do her 'very best' for both Kilkenny if elected on Friday, November 29.

The Carlow based mother of two told Kilkenny Live: "I live in Carlow town but Kilkenny will be extremely important to me as well."

"I will give full commitment to both counties and be a voice for Carlow and Kilkenny," she stressed.

Amongst her targets, Ms Donohoe has highlighted local tourism has an area she wishes to focus on if elected as a TD.

"Tourism is a huge industry and extremely important to Kilkenny. This will be a priority for me" she commented.

"A couple of the hotels in Kilkenny have been turned into IPAS centres which means no tourists can stay there. This impacts the local economy with less money being spent in shops and on visitor attractions.," the local candidate continued.

"I want to see Ireland grow and prosper and for our children to have a bright and safe future."
