Churches in Kilkenny are set to ring their bells at the same time on November 11, Remembrance Sunday.

All churches and faiths are invited to get involved to support the cause — peace in the world — by ringing their church bells at this specific date.

It follows calls by Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan, Bishop of Waterford and Lismore with a ‘ringing of bells’ ceremony nationwide at 11 minutes past 11am, on the eleventh day of the eleventh month to coincide with the ending of World War I in 1918.

Bishop Cullinane extended the invitation for neighbouring Cashel, Ferns and Ossory to join in.
