An Garda Síochana have been conducting a major operation in Kilkenny

In response to concerns raised by residents and visitors using local public parks and spaces, the Kilkenny Garda Síochána Drugs Unit has been conducting a targeted operation aimed at addressing drug use and dealing in public recreational areas.

Cocaine and cannabis worth €14,000 was seized, six sale/supply incidents were intercepted, 11 people were charged with possession and several other arrests were also made.

“Our parks and public spaces are intended for the enjoyment of all members of the community, and everyone has the right to feel safe while using them,” a garda spokesperson said.

“An Garda Síochána will continue to adopt a zero-tolerance approach to drug-related activity and drug use in these recreational areas. We are committed to keeping our community spaces safe and welcoming for everyone.

“We are asking for the community's continued support. If you are out walking or using these spaces and observe,” the spokesperson continued.

“Any activity that you believe is suspicious or drug-related, please report it.”
