Evergreen’s relentless surge to another Premier Division title moved on another level last weekend when they claimed a 6-1 win away to Deen Celtic in Castlecomer.

Deen Celtic had been enjoying a very good season but there was a real men against boys feeling here as the defending champions made it six wins from six.

The city side have games in hand on all of the teams above them and it looks more when rather than if they get back to the top of the table.

Andrew Wall, Lee Delaney and David Grincell were all on the scoresheet and although they have a lot of games to make up, it’s not something that Evergreen aren’t used to - it’d be a big surprise if they don’t collect more silverware before the end of the season.

The only other premier division clash saw Callan United enjoy a home victory against Highview Athletic.

The 4-1 success for the hosts sees them move further clear of the two teams at the bottom in what has been a miserable campaign thus far for the Graignamanagh side, who are still winless.

There were also two games in the Division One league where Ormonde Villa and Evergreen B claimed big wins over Evergreen C and Freshford Town respectively.

Villa maintained second position in the table with a very convincing 6-2 win against Evergreen’s third string team with Mark Flynn, Karl Gleeson, Garry Gleeson, Alex Molloy and Evan Walsh all finding the net in Garringreen.

Despite Villa’s big win, they still look to have it all to do to catch Evergreen B at the top with their 3-2 win over Freshford keeping them eight points clear at the summit.

Elsewhere East End United, Deen Celtic B and Thomastown United B all scored three goals each as they claimed wins in the Division Two Emerald Tiles League.

The bottom tier division has been split into two sections in recent weeks and Freebooters B look poised to win the title as they top the table by a point with three games in hand over their nearest rival.

There was also action in the McCalmont Cup which saw the aforementioned Freebooters B claim a 3-2 victory at home to Stoneyford United with Kian Dunne grabbing all three goals for the winners.
