First official recording of 'Siphlonurus Lacustris' in Kilkenny

The first record of 'Siphlonurus Lacustris' has been cited in County Kilkenny.
The Invasive Ecology Laboratory at UCD (who conduct research into the ecology of invasive species and aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates and plants) have shared the finding.
This large summer mayfly is usually found in more upland rivers.
It is a large summer species and in rivers favours backwaters where pool‐like conditions exist.
It is commonly encountered in mountain streams where it is tolerant of moderate episodic acidity.
It would be considered sensitive to eutrophication and organic pollution but moderately tolerant of siltation.
This Kilkenny recording was made in the River Dinin during the national mayfly survey.
