Five arrests during garda operation in Kilkenny

Five people were arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving by Kilkenny gardaí over the May bank holiday weekend.
Four drivers were arrested on suspicion of drink driving and a fifth driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Fifty two mandatory checkpoints were in place on road across the city and county with an additional 24 checkpoints also in place. Seven cars were seized for no insurance and 22 people received speeding fines on the M9.
