Five traditional bathing areas across the county are open with lifeguards on duty until Sunday, August 31

Five traditional bathing areas across the county will be opened and staffed with lifeguards f until the end of August. The lifeguards will be present at the sites from 1pm to 6.30pm during weekends in June and seven days a week in July and August.

Due to lifeguard availability, some swimming areas will have to close on occasion, however plenty of notice will be given across Kilkenny County Council social media and signage will also be erected at the affected locations.

The council thanked Water Safety Ireland Kilkenny for their continued support in training the lifeguards and sharing their expertise and also the lifeguards themselves for their commitments to ensuring safe swimming across the county.

Lar Power, Chief Executive of the council said: “It’s great to witness once again, such dedicated and professional lifeguards applying their extensive training in the river lifeguard role.”

“Their energy and commitment to ensuring safe swimming areas for the communities of Kilkenny reflects not only their expertise but also their genuine concern for the wellbeing of others. Their enthusiasm and responsibility are invaluable assets to our communities.”
