A guided walking tour of Dean Street and the Waterbarrack will take place later this month.

The event, Dean Street - the Story of Change, is being run by the Kilkenny Archaeological Society.

These increasingly popular street tours along the historic streets of Kilkenny are led in an entertaining presentation by Seamus Brennan, historian and former president of our society.

Dean Street is perhaps the most changed street in Kilkenny, but everywhere examples are still visible of its history and architecture.

Along with the Waterbarrack, this whole area of Irishtown is an integral part of the occupation of the city for almost 1000 years.

All are welcome to join for this annual evening walk of discovery.

Meet at the bottom of St Canice’s Steps at 7pm on August 23 to amble along the street as its colourful history unfolds.

No prior booking required – just turn up.
