Gardaí recently led a multi-agency informed operation relating to animal welfare in Kilkenny
A multi-agency animal welfare operation took place in Kilkenny recently as gardaí joined local and national partners as part of a day of action.
My Lovely Horse Rescue have described details of the operation, saying it worked alongside Kilkenny County Council, An Garda Síochána (Kilkenny/Carlow), the Carlow/Kilkenny Dog Shelter and other agenices as part of the coordinated effort.
According to the rescue, the operation (described as the 'first ever Joint Committee Operational Day') focused on addressing animal cruelty, ensuring animal welfare legislation was being complied with, and promoting responsible pet ownership across the county.
My Lovely Horse Rescue said four dogs were removed to safety during the operation and are now receiving veterinary treatment and ongoing care. The organisation added that other agencies involved also assisted in bringing additional animals to safety.
In a statement, the rescue thanked the partner organisations for their cooperation and commitment to animal welfare in Kilkenny, describing the collaborative approach as important for protecting animals and supporting responsible ownership locally.
