Green light for classroom extension to Kilkenny school welcomed

A number of Kilkenny schools have been given the green light to proceed to tender for extensions to their school buildings.
In Kilkenny City a two-classroom extension has been approved by the Department of Education for the Church of Ireland National School (Kilkenny Model School).
Deputy John McGuinness welcomed the announcement which was made this week.
Meanwhile, in Callan, permission has been granted for a large extension to Coláiste Abhainn Rí.
The proposed building is described in the original planning application as being ‘of generally two storeys in height’ to include a Specialist Educational Needs Unit, six classrooms, specialist teaching rooms, support spaces and a single storey link to the current school.
