Investigation ongoing into suspect device left at Kilkenny Garda Station

A suspect device was left outside Kilkenny Garda Station on Saturday evening by concerned members of the public.

The crude device, was found by a couple, on a public space close to a housing estate, where there has been reports of ongoing anti-social behaviour. They brought it to Kilkenny Garda Station.

Members of Kilkenny Garda Station contacted the army who advised them to close the garda station for a number of hours while they examined the partially-detonated device and deemed it to be no longer dangerous.

Kilkenny gardaí have confirmed that they are investigating the incident. The station was closed from approximately 9pm to 1am on Sunday morning and has since re-opened.
