Kilkenny Chess Club seeks new members

The Kilkenny Chess club is reopening for adult players this coming season on Monday, September 11 at 8pm in the Club House Hotel, Patrick Street, Kilkenny.

The club, now in its 50th year, has been represented in all of the Leinster Chess Union Leagues for over 40 years, with many of the club's young players rising to the top rankings of Irish chess.

The group has also welcomed some of the world's top players to its annual tournament, which dates back to November 1977.

A club spokesperson said: "The enjoyment of playing chess and the camaraderie within the Club still remains our most important goal at all times."

In addition, junior chess will commence on September 18 at 7pm, where lessons will be provided to those interested in improving their chess skills.
