Kilkenny councillor contacts gardaí due to 'party people' shouting and singing near estate

Cllr Sean Ó hArgain and other Kilkenny residents had a restless night...
A local councillor has raised concerns over late-night noise near the Weir in Kilkenny City, claiming local residents were kept awake by loud music and singing until after 2am.
The Labour Party’s Cllr Sean Ó hArgáin contacted An Garda Síochána on Thursday morning following reports of a group gathering at the Meadows, in front of Riverside Drive.
In a social media post, the councillor said the group had been singing and playing amplified music, while also shouting late into the night.
“Most of us are really enjoying the warm weather and it’s great to see people out and about lapping it up,” he said.
“They were singing (some of the singing wasn’t bad!) to loud, amplified music and shouting until well after 2am,” Cllr Ó hArgáin commented.
“While it’s difficult to sleep at the moment, it shouldn’t be made harder for local residents.”
“I hope the local garda members will pop down and deal with this tonight and in the coming days,” he added.
