Aoife Prendergast and Adrian Mullen are both in the running

It's a huge weekend of action for Kilkenny GAA with the county's Senior Camogie and Hurling teams both in action in Croke Park on Saturday afternoon.

Before the Black and Amber invasion hits Jones Road, there was positive news with Aoife Prendergast and Adrian Mullen nominated for player of the month in their own code for June.

Prendergast is in her second term as Kilkenny camogie captain and she was the leading light in attack as the Cats claimed championship wins over Derry and Antrim as well as drawing with Waterford before losing out away to Tipperary last weekend.

The Dicksboro star is nominated alongside Roisin Howard of Tipperary and Laura Hayes of Cork.

Unlike Prendergast who had four games over the course of June, Adrian Mullen only had the one game to showcase his skills but he was in superb form as he scored seven points from play in his man of the match performance against Dublin in the Leinster Final.

Mullen's rise is even more impressive seen as he was out of action for much of the early part of the Leinster Championship.

The Shamrocks player has been nominated for the monthly gong with Limerick's Gearoid Hegarty and Clare's Shane O'Donnell with the winner being decided by their fellow inter-county players.
