Aran and his family have experienced two devastating losses in recent years, losing their father Steven in February 2024 and his brother Christy in December 2025 to suicide.
“Losing two people we love in such circumstances is something that is impossible to put into words,” Aran posted to the fundraising GoFund Me page.
“The impact of suicide reaches far beyond the person we loose, affecting families, friends and communities.
“Throughout these horrific times, Pieta were an incredible support to me, they provided a level of care, understanding and support that I will always be grateful for. I want to give something back to an organisation that was there for me when I needed it most,” he continued.
“Christy and dad believed in supporting men's mental health, charities and organisations that work towards suicide prevention. I know Christy would have loved to do something like this himself. So, on what would have been his 21st birthday, I want to do this in his memory and dedicate it to both Christy and our dad.
“If there is one message I want people to take from this, it is that you are never alone. If you're struggling, please don't suffer in silence. There is support available, there are people who want to listen, and there is always someone who wants to help you. Reaching out is not a sign of weakness,” Aran stressed.
“Every donation, no matter how big or small will go towards supporting Pieta and the vital work they do for people and families across Ireland.
“If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much.
“Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read this, support the cause and help us honour the memory of two loved and very special people.”
In a sign of the high-esteem Aran and the Murphy family are held, Aran’s target of just over €2,000 has been greatly surpassed, reaching a total of €17,764 at the time of writing. - DONATE HERE
