Niall Bergin gave his thoughts after the Cats booked a Leinster Semi-Final spot

The win over Dublin last weekend meant it was mission accomplished as far as Kilkenny manager Niall Bergin was concerned.

“Our aim was to win our three round robin games and we have achieved that,” he said. “The knock-out stage starts the next day in the Leinster semi-final. We were already through to the Leinster semi-final before the game, but the excellent attitude from the players delivered another fine performance.”

The O’Loughlin Gaels man was pleased with the players in the game which, he said, has reflected their attitude in training.

“We got some very good scores,” he said. “At times we were sloppy on the ball, but the work rate was good as was the attitude of the players which has been excellent since the start of the campaign. The team’s response every time Dublin scored was indicative of the good attitude from all the players.

“The players are working extremely hard in training,” he added. “We have a panel of 35 players and they are pushing each other at every session. They will be looking forward to going again in the Leinster semi-final.”
