Kilkenny woman Niamh Dunphy has completed here PhD studies
Hugginstown woman, Niamh Dunphy has achieved a major academic milestone after being awarded a PhD in University College Dublin (UCD) this week.
Niamh represented Ireland at the World Food Forum in Rome in 2024 - a long way from her days at Newmarket primary school and the Presentation Secondary School in Kilkenny City.
During her studies, she researched the critical role of farmers in addressing climate change - what they are looking into and how often they talk about it.
The local graduate also focused on farmer’s engagement in conversations about climate change and their behaviour around implementing climate mitigation strategies on their farms.
“Congratulations to Dr Niamh Dunphy from Hugginstown, Co Kilkenny, who was awarded her PhD this week,” Teagasc posted to social media.
“Niamh completed her PhD through the Walsh Scholarship Programme, in collaboration with Teagasc Waterford, Kilkenny and UCD.
“Seamus Kearney, Teagasc Advisor based in Dungarvan, was one of Niamh’s supervisors. Best wishes to Niamh for the future.”
