Kilkenny writers explore innovative idea at Culture Night

Voice Notes takes place this Friday at the
Kilkenny playwright and filmmaker Gillian Grattan is working with actor and writer Susie Lamb on Voice Notes, a Culture Night project with a difference.
Gillian and Susie wondered if writing a play through voice notes might be an interesting way to work. They asked for prompts for a relationship and a scenario, which they then
chose from a hat. The prompts became the starting point for a series of voice notes exchanged between the two. They transcribed every voice note and this became the play
they will present on Culture Night.
The play will be presented as a reading at The Book & Coffee Shop on William Street in Kilkenny on Friday, September 18, from 9pm to 10pm, followed by a Q & A with the creators.
Gillian is a playwright, filmmaker and drama facilitator and Artistic Director of TADA Theatre and Film School. She has an MA in Stage and Screen Writing from UCD and works across
theatre, film and radio. Susie Lamb is an actor, writer and performance educator who works across theatre, film, television, radio and voice-over. She is fluent in Irish and has also
worked in Irish-language animation.
Voice Notes is funded through Culture Night funding from Kilkenny County Council Arts Office and the Night Time Economy Fund, with venue and rehearsal support from The
Book & Coffee Shop and the Watergate Theatre.
