Plan to extend size of Kilkenny bar/restaurant hit unexpected snag

The application was lodged with Kilkenny County Council on August 19 but has since been invalidated by Kilkenny County Council
Loftco Ltd Court have hit a snag after applying for planning permission for a bar/restaurant extension at the Springhill Hotel on the outskirts of Kilkenny City.
The applicant is seeking to develop a ‘95.6 sqm licenced bar/restaurant extension to the existing bar restaurant located to the front of the hotel and all ancillary works’.
According to a cover letter submitted with the original application, one of the aims of the proposed development is to “increase the available restaurant areas in order to take account of the increase in numbers at the hotel because of its recent expansion”.
Another is to ‘assist in a new look to the front façade’, whilst it is noted that ‘further upgrades of the façade will take place over the coming years’.
“It is intended to become a light airy sunroom type area of the hotel,” the cover letter stated.
The application was lodged with Kilkenny County Council on August 19 but has since been invalidated by Kilkenny County Council.
Although the reason for the invalidation of this particular planning application is not presently stated, common causes for the invalidation of planning applications include (but are not limited to) incomplete documentation, defective notices and fee payment issues.
It is likely that the applicant will address whatever issue is cited by the planning authority and submit a fresh application.
