RIP: 'A gentleman' - Kilkenny parish says goodbye to much loved figure

The Stoneyford Development Association shared news of Mr Hogg’s death
A Kilkenny parish is mourning the sad passing of a dearly loved community man and rugy supporters who died this week.
“Our small community owes a lot to many in this village. One of those is John Hogg and his family,” the association said in tribute.
“If you walked or ran around the track any morning, it's likely you would have met John and Audrey. They arrived and left together, but did their own thing while there. They often enjoyed a joke about that!
“Often Sean Raggett would come along, with John and himself chatting away over a couple of laps,” the spokesperson for the Stoneyford Association continued.
“John had a word with anyone that said hello. Ever the gentleman, he particularly loved a bit of rugby or GAA banter. And of course, was always delighted to be asked about his grandchildren.
“He and Audrey were great supporters of the Community Centre and Development Association all through the years and will be hugely missed throughout the Community,” they added.
“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
Kilkenny RFC also paid tribute to the long-time supporter.
“John was a familiar presence at Foulkstown over the years, providing quiet sideline support to the club for decades. A gentleman, he will be deeply missed by his family and countless friends,” a club spokesperson said in a statement.
“Our thoughts are with his wife, Audrey, and his daughters, Valerie and Linda. In particular we also extend our respect to his son, Richard, a dedicated supporter of our 1st XV team, who rarely misses a game.
“John will fondly remembered by many in the club, and we honor his memory with greatest of respect.”
