Kilkenny gardaí have issued a warning after a motorist reported that stones were thrown at his van from a bridge over the Ring Road in Kilkenny City.
The driver approached gardaí during a recent checkpoint and told them that a group of young children had dropped stones onto his vehicle while he was travelling along the Ring Road yesterday evening.
While the incident was not reported at the time, the motorist felt it was worth mentioning and suggested that parents in the area might want to have a chat with their children.
Gardaí said that while "kids will be kids", behaviour of this kind could have serious consequences if it continues.
They warned that dropping objects onto moving vehicles could result in a collision or even cause serious injury to road users.
The incident has prompted gardaí to remind parents and young people alike of the dangers associated with throwing objects from bridges onto busy roads.
