Soaring Stars awards for four Kilkenny players

The 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars winners have been revealed with four Kilkenny players among the winners after the county’s Intermediate side made it to the All-Ireland final last month.
Goalkeeper Cliona Murphy, defenders Mairead Kennedy and Hannah Scott as well as midfielder Danielle Morrissey have all been rewarded for stellar seasons and while the year ultimately ended in defeat to Cork, these individual accolades will be some solace to the players.
Conahy’s Morrissey has been recognised for her achievements in more than one area as she’s also been nominated for the Intermediate Player of the Year as she recovered from a cruciate ligament injury in fine style.
The Kilkenny star is up for the award alongside Cork’s Lauren Homan and Emma Flanagan.
The other award at this level to be given out sees Cork intermediate boss Ger Manley take home the 2024 PwC Manager of the Year.
The full selected team, which includes a mix of players from both the intermediate and junior grades, is as follows:
1 Cliona Murphy – Kilkenny (Goalkeeper)
2 Emma Flanagan – Cork (Corner Back)
3 Niamh O’Leary – Cork (Full Back)
4 Aoife Barrett – Cork (Corner Back)
5 Mairead Kennedy – Kilkenny (Wing/Half Back)
6 Clodagh Tynan – Laois (Centre Back)
7 Hannah Scott – Kilkenny (Wing/Half Back)
8 Danielle Morrissey – Kilkenny (Midfield)
9 Tara McCarthy – Cork (Midfield)
10 Cliona O’Callaghan – Cork (Wing/Half Forward)

12 Grace Teehan – Offaly (Wing/Half Forward)
13 Jenny Grace – Tipperary (Corner Forward)
14 Aimee Collier – Laois (Full Forward)
15 Jackie Horgan – Kerry (Corner Forward)
As well as camogie, there was also recognition for a number of Kilkenny hurlers after Huw Lawlor (O’Loughlin Gaels), David Blanchfield (Bennettsbridge), John Donnelly (Thomastown) and Cian Kenny (James Stephens) were nominated for PwC Hurling All-Stars last week.
The Cats quartet were influential in helping Derek Lyng’s men win a fifth Leinster senior championship crown on the trot before subsequent All-Ireland winners Clare beat them in the All-Ireland semi-final.
The All-Stars will be announced live on RTÉ at a special banquet in the RDS on Friday, November 1, the 140th anniversary of the formation of the GAA.
