Subtitle celebrates ten years in Kilkenny with €10 tickets!

This year's programme features more than 30 films from across the continent, including 12 Irish premieres
SUBTITLE European Film Festival returns to Kilkenny from 22–28 November, celebrating ten years of bringing some of Europe's finest films and acting talent to the city.
To mark the anniversary, tickets are just €10 per screening, with further reductions for those attending multiple films. This year's programme features more
than 30 films from across the continent, including 12 Irish premieres and a selection of much-loved European classics.
SUBTITLE is dedicated to bringing accessible, entertaining European cinema to Kilkenny, particularly films that might never receive a general cinema release in
Ireland. While mainstream cinemas understandably concentrate on bigger releases, SUBTITLE offers audiences the chance to discover some of the best films being
made across Europe. The festival also champions European acting talent, bringing actors together with leading international casting directors.
Screenings take place at the Set Theatre, Watergate Theatre, Billy Byrnes and Cleere's, with classics including Good Bye, Lenin!, A Royal Affair and Cinema
Paradiso. The festival culminates in the Angela Awards, hosted by Pauline McLynn, with music from the Camembert Quartet and a host of well-known Irish actors
presenting awards to their European counterparts.
Festival co-director Richard Cook said: “We've always tried to programme European cinema that's accessible, entertaining and, above all, worth seeing. What I love
about SUBTITLE is the mix of audiences. We have people who know their European cinema inside out, alongside others who simply take a chance on a film they've
never heard of. Ten years on, that sense of discovery is still what excites us most, and it's lovely to see how much the festival has become part of Kilkenny's
November calendar.”
