Vehicles 'forced' onto path in Kilkenny town as heavy vehicles use Main Street

Have you experienced delays passing through the centre of Graignamanagh?
Traffic management measures have been introduced on Main Street in Graignamanagh after concerns were raised about pedestrian safety as heavy vehicles continue to pass through the town following the closure of Ferrymountgarrett Bridge.
As a result, there are parking restrictions on some parts of the street.
According to Fianna Fáil’s Cllr Bruno Cleere, heavy vehicles are using Main Street due to the closure of Ferrymountgarrett Bridge.
Major structural defects were identified at Ferrymountgarrett Bridge in South Kilkenny earlier this year, with the scheduled works expected to make it safe for the volume of heavy vehicles that currently cross the heritage structure.
“This week I flagged a Safety Issue on Main Street Graignamanagh with Kilkenny County Council,” said, noting Heavy Vehicles are ‘needing’ to drive through the street.
“Vehicles were forced on to the paths which was a danger to pedestrian safety.
“Parking will temporarily be off limits at this area until works at Ferrymountgarrett Bridge are complete,” he added.
“Thanks to the Graiguenamanagh locals for their assistance with this.”
