Works contract awarded for Lacken Boardwalk Replacement Scheme in Kilkenny

Following a competitive tender process, the works contract for the Lacken Boardwalk Replacement Scheme was awarded to Triur Construction Ltd.

The recycled plastic components for the boardwalk have been signed off by the design team and the contractor has ordered same with works expected to commence in the coming weeks.

It is noted that to facilitate these works sections of the boardwalk will be closed to the public during this period.

The completed project will see the replacement of the existing 1.2m wide timber boardwalk with a c.3.6m wide boardwalk made from recycled composite materials.

Funding for this project was secured under Measure 3 of the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme in the amount of €500,000 - which will be supplemented from the council’s own funds.
