ALDI’s Waterford supplier wins big at the Great Taste Awards 2024!

ALDI’s Waterford supplier, Blackwater Distillery, earned a 1-star accolade at this year's Great Taste Awards for their Boyle’s Gin.
These awards celebrate the dedication and hard work of local suppliers, highlighting the exceptional quality and taste of their products. ALDI is proud to support and showcase the best that Waterford has to offer.
Boyle’s Gin was launched in ALDI Ireland in October 2016. In its first week on sale, it was awarded “Best Irish Gin” in the Irish Whiskey Awards. Since then, Boyle’s Gin has graced the shelves of ALDI stores worldwide, selling almost half a million bottles.
It has gone on to win multiple national and international awards including “Best Irish Classic Gin” in the World Gin Awards 2021 and Double Gold in the prestigious San Francisco Spirit Awards 2021.
This outstanding small batch Irish artisan gin has lots of citrus zest, fragrant juniper, fruity notes of blackcurrant and apple plus warm spices. This was the first of our acclaimed Boyle’s Range, produced by Blackwater Distillery in County Waterford.
The Boyle’s Range is completed with summer classic Boyle’s Raspberry Blush Gin and Boyle’s Sloe & Damson Gin Liqueur - Christmas in a glass, which will be available in November 2024. This Christmas, ALDI are proud to be launching the newest member of the Boyle’s Gin Family - Boyle’s Forest Gin, also arriving in stores in November.
This impressive awards haul solidifies ALDI's status as Ireland’s Most Awarded Discount Supermarket. At the Great Taste Awards 2024, ALDI secured 78 awards, reinforcing its top position in the category.
Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Foods, is renowned as the world’s largest and most trusted food accreditation scheme. Since 1994, thousands of products have been rigorously tested by Great Taste’s esteemed judging panel, which includes chefs, buyers, food writers, and retailers from around the globe. Each product is blind tasted, ensuring an impartial judging process. This guarantees that customers can trust only the best-tasting products which have earned The Great Taste seal of approval.
