“Behind the scenes” footage has revealed the significant progress being made on the runway extension at Waterford Airport.
Airport management provided an update on the project in a post on social media over the weekend.
An airport spokesperson wrote: “Behind the scenes at Waterford Airport, the runway is well underway.
“You’re looking at the largest ground stabilisation project in Ireland.
“Day by day, layer by layer, the groundwork is being laid for something big for the South East.”
“More to come soon,” they added.
The post received a big reaction on social media, with many Waterford people welcoming the progress being made.
Work has now been underway for several months on Waterford Airport’s redevelopment.
As part of the project, the airport’s runway will be lengthened to 2,287 metres and widened to 45 metres to accommodate larger commercial jet aircraft.
