Communication boards for non-verbal children rolled out at Waterford playgrounds

Waterford Sports Partnership has begun installing communication boards at playgrounds around Waterford.

According to Waterford City and County Council, a communication board is a sheet of symbols, pictures or photos to facilitate a non-speaking or minimally speaking child's communication with those around them.

In the coming weeks, all playgrounds in the county will reportedly have a communication board in place .
