Waterford City and County Council has announced the reopening of the Walton Park Playground in Dungarvan

Work has been completed on the upgrading of a popular playground in County Waterford.

Waterford City and County Council has announced the reopening of the Walton Park Playground in Dungarvan.

In a post on social media, a council spokesperson wrote: “The playground now boasts a fantastic new senior mega multi-play unit, a junior multi-play unit designed for younger children, and an impressive 4.5-metre-high space net.

“These enhancements have been made possible through funding from Waterford City and County Council and the Capital Grant Scheme for Play and Recreation.

“The scheme, administered by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality, supports the development and improvement of play and recreation facilities for children and young people across the country.

“The investment ensures Walton Park Playground continues to provide a vibrant and inclusive outdoor space where children can play, explore, and stay active for years to come.”

The upgrade has been welcomed by a number of local parents, who have said their children are enjoying the newly improved playground.

One local said: “Well done to all who got this and the other playground updated they look fantastic. Cannot wait for the grandkids to try them out.”

“It’s fantastic. The kids really enjoyed it today. Thanks to all the hard work from the lads,” another woman commented.
