Thousands of Waterford customers left without water as Uisce Éireann investigates

Thousands of Waterford customers have been left without water this morning as Uisce Éireann workers investigate.
There is widespread disruption to the water supply in Dungarvan and surrounding areas, with the cause of the problem unknown at this stage.
Residents in a large number of areas, including Springsmeadow, Silversprings, Lismore Avenue and Caseyville, are all experiencing water outages or low water pressure.
Uisce Éireann has said that its workers are investigating the issue and working to restore water supply.
An Uisce Éireann spokesperson said: “We are investigating reports of supply disruptions affecting Dungarvan and surrounding areas of County Waterford.
“Crews are working to restore supply as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile, Sinn Féin councillor Kate O’Mahoney addressed the issues being experienced in a post on social media.
Cllr O’Mahoney wrote: “I am just off the phone with Uisce Éireann.
“There were mains repair works yesterday that would have caused water disruptions across Dungarvan.
“Water was meant to be back yesterday at 5pm. There could be a delay with this repair or a new issue.
“Investigation logged into outage. I will revert with further updates.”
Similarly, Waterford Sinn Féin TD Conor McGuinness wrote: “Many people have been in touch regarding water supply in Dungarvan this morning.
“There were mains repair works carried out yesterday. Some households are experiencing ongoing disruption to supply, others are reporting colouration.
“It’s unclear if this is down to pressure rebuilding in the system after yesterday’s works or if there is another fault on the system. My colleague, Cllr Kate O’Mahoney, is in touch with Uisce Éireann.”
Deputy McGuinness added that Uisce Éireann needs to “drastically improve their communication” when it comes to scheduled repair works and other outages.
It comes after a number of Dungarvan residents expressed their frustration over a lack of communication this morning.
