A call has been made for the development of an outdoor pool in a seaside town in County Waterford.

Fine Gael councillor Lola O’Sullivan made the comments at the September plenary meeting of Waterford City and County Council.

Cllr O’Sullivan said: “I’d like to ask that the council put funding aside for a study for an outdoor pool for Tramore.

“There’s a new group after setting up called Tramore Tidal Pool and I think it would be very beneficial to Waterford.

“We don’t have an outdoor tidal pool and I think it would be super if we could consider it.”

In response, Director of Services Ivan Grimes said that it is something that the council could look at.

“I am actually talking to Swim Ireland tomorrow about other swimming pool options so I can raise that,” he added.
